Thank you to our donors
OCC launched the Lazer Response Fund in the spring of 2020 in response to the extraordinary challenges that were faced by our students. We have doubled the initial goal of $100,000 and the Lazer Response Fund stands at $210,000 to date! This was only made possible by the nearly 400 donors who came forward, contributing 477 gifts, including 37 donor organizations and a $50,000 matching contribution from SUNY that OCC was able to secure early on because of the tremendous response. In addition to the generous campus group gifts from the OCC Board of Trustees, the OCC Foundation Board of Directors, the OCC Federation of Teachers & Administrators, Executive Council, the Faculty Senate, and the OCC chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges, several hundred faculty, staff, and individuals and families from the community came forward and made contributions to the fund, contributing directly and also supporting LRF fundraising events like Dining at a Distance, Whiskey & Wisdom, and the popular “Food Truck Frenzy.” These funds have been used throughout the pandemic and continue to be used to support direct student needs for housing and food assistance, technology, transportation and childcare.
None of this would have been possible without the collective efforts of the campus and greater Central New York community. Thank you for your support!
Every donation has an impact
"The laptop not only helped me to continue my schoolwork but allowed me to assist my children as well during this pandemic. Thank you!"
"Oh my gosh, I really appreciate the donor help, because I have four kids and we were fighting over one laptop, and I had to be awake all night to just have time to do my own homework because the kids have so much to do too. Thank you so much for your help and support 🙏"
"I would say, without your generous donation, I would not have been able to finish this semester. Thank you."
"I would love to thank the donors from the bottom of my heart. I was able to continue my education, which helps my three children ( ages 1,2 and 3) and I. - Thank you, and God bless."
"I’m very grateful to them for their help and support during this difficult time. Students like me are not able to continue their distance learning without their help. Thank you for your kindness."
