Onondaga Community College’s English Language Institute provides multiple levels of free language instruction and support to help English language learners achieve their career and academic goals. Our non-credit bearing programs are recognized throughout the region and can improve access to employment opportunities.
ELI Registration Day!
Date: Monday, January 12th, 2026
Time: 9 am – 2 pm
Location: Learning Center, Gordon Building, G202
Details: Free English courses are available. On ELI Registration Day, students will take a
placement exam and will be placed in classes based on their proficiency level and
availability. Please bring a pen or pencil. The exam will test writing and speaking skills.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, so it's best to show up early. Classes will
begin on begin on Monday, January 26.

Beginner English (LI-1) Courses

Intermediate English (LI-2) Courses
Take the intermediate class if you have already completed the Beginner English (LI-1) class (or have intermediate level proficiency as assessed by ELI instructors).

Contextualized English Courses
Take the Health or Business English classes if you have already completed the Intermediate English (LI-2) class (as assessed by ELI instructors).

- Health Focus: 11:30 am-1:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday
- Business Focus: 4:00 pm-6:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday
Additional ELI Support - Drop-In Hours
