Who we are

The mission of Onondaga Community College’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is to provide access, academic support, and financial assistance to first-time, full-time students who demonstrate potential for college success but may benefit from additional guidance throughout their academic journey. The program is designed to foster personal growth, strengthen academic skills, and ease the transition into the College’s social and cultural environment.

We support students in the following ways:

  • Residential Pre-Freshman Summer Institute
  • Skill Development Workshops
  • Student Navigator Support
  • Personal and Academic Coaching
  • Referrals to Campus Support Services
  • Connection to the Learning Center
  • Mandatory Participation in the Box of Books Program
  • Tutoring Services
  • Transfer Admission Assistance
  • Application Fee Waivers
  • Workshops Designed for Academic and Personal Success

Students who are conditionally* accepted into Onondaga Community College and the EOP are required to attend the Residential Pre-Freshman Summer Institute. This five-week program is designed to help students begin the fall semester with a strong foundation and familiarity with the campus resources that will support their academic journey. During the Institute, students can earn up to six college credits and receive tutoring, academic and personal counseling, and textbooks.

*Students accepted into the EOP must meet all program requirements. Failure to do so may result in removal from the program.
