New SUNY Chancellor Dr. Jim Malatras made his first visit to the Onondaga Community College campus November 9. During his visit he observed members of the campus community taking part in COVID-19 saliva pool testing, met with members of Executive Council, visited Mechanical Technology and Automotive Technology labs, and had a conversation with Student Officers about how the fall semester has gone for them.
The Chancellor and OCC President Dr. Casey Crabill also met with members of the media. "We're happy to have him on campus and be able to share with him some of the things that are special about Onondaga Community College," said Dr. Crabill. "We have a great leader in President Crabill," said Chancellor Malatras. "We need leadership now more than ever. There have been more than 2,300 Covid-related tests here since the start of the semester. There have been two positive cases. We know things are elevating in Onondaga County but here it's stable. Everyone is doing all of the right things. It's really important for our students. I like going to campuses where you can hold them up as a model to the rest of the country."
