OCC Social Media Intern Patrick Marek (left) and and Digital Media and Content Specialist Caroline Mooney (right) are looking to add a new Student Intern in the spring semester.

Being a Social Media Intern at Onondaga Community College gave Patrick Marek experiences he never expected. "This has gotten me to do different things I wouldn't have done on campus. I never would have covered a therapy dog event for social media or gone to several other campus events if I didn't go with the mindset of needing experience," Marek said.

Marek is enrolled in the Broadcast Media Communications (BMC) program, and is just completing his second semester working with Caroline Mooney, OCC's Social Media & Digital Content Specialist. "Patrick has translated a lot of BMC skills to social media. He came to this internship with great editing skills, he understands narration, video editing, and does a great job producing content," she said.

Together, Mooney and Marek have worked diligently to fill OCC's social media platforms - LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok - with high-quality content. And now there's an opportunity for another student to join the team for the spring 2026 semester. "We love students who have a passion for social media, are ambitious, love to learn, and like making content. This is a perfect opportunity for them," Mooney said.
