The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) of Greater Syracuse presented a check for $45,000 to the OCC Foundation. The endowment award will benefit Onondaga Community College students pursuing a career in a supply chain-related field. Each year beginning in the fall 2021 semester, a returning OCC student will be awarded $2,000 to help cover expenses. Supply chain-related careers include purchasing, procurement, logistics, warehousing, operations, inventory, and other industry standards as they evolve. According to the New York State Department of Labor, positions related to supply chain and logistics will see a 13.5% growth rate through 2026. In Central New York, Amazon is building two large distribution centers.

During the check presentation ceremony OCC President Dr. Casey Crabill thanked ISM for sharing the common goal of making the community a better place. "OCC's students are the employees, the homeowners, the business owners, the entrepreneurs, the innovators, and the community leaders who will take us forward with both the challenges we face today and the challenges that will come after us. As I always say to our students 'we are counting on you!' And with this gift from the Institute of Supply Management, students know that all of us believe in their future and they can count on us."

Mary A. Rhoades, President of the ISM of Greater Syracuse said, "We've chosen the right partner in Onondaga Community College. It's important to us we meet a vital need for future OCC students who want the opportunity to complete their education in order to make a positive impact in the growing supply chain industry, especially here in Central New York."
