Alum's New Book Celebrates a Lifetime of Laughter

"You have so many good stories, you should write a book!" If Glenn LaPoint '16 had heard that once, he'd heard it a thousand times.

Central New Yorkers know him as Glenn "Gomez" Adams thanks to his 40-plus year career in the media, including the last 31 years at radio station TK-99 where he hosts the morning show, "Gomez and Company." He's also a stand-up comic with countless stories from that part of his life to share as well.

Student Spotlight: Johnny Tinker

Johnny Tinker grew up on Tinkerbell Farms in Homer, the oldest of 16 children, who helped manage 80 to 100 cows along with goats and horses. "If you would have asked me in my younger life if I could ever see all this for myself, I would have said 'I'm going to be a farm boy for the rest of my life," he said.

Being a Social Media Intern at Onondaga Community College gave Patrick Marek experiences he never expected. "This has gotten me to do different things I wouldn't have done on campus. I never would have covered a therapy dog event for social media or gone to several other campus events if I didn't go with the mindset of needing experience," Marek said.

Student Spotlight: Sabrina Howell Pruitt

Sabrina Howell Pruitt went to college right out of high school, but life had other plans. "I wound up getting pregnant. Motherhood took over. That's what I did until my kids grew up."

For more than three decades, she put her education on hold while raising her daughter and son. "I always wanted a degree. Once they were grown and ventured out on their own, I said it was time to go to college and get a degree."

Criminal Justice Students Gain Real-World Insight from Forensic Investigator

Throughout the fall semester, students in Onondaga Community College’s Criminal Justice Club engaged with a variety of accomplished guest professionals who offered firsthand insight into their careers. Their final session before the break featured Taylor Bourdon, a Forensic Death Investigator from the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office, who brought a compelling look into the world of medicolegal death investigation.

Student Spotlight: Ryan Scholes

Ryan Scholes has gone from a college dropout to an honor student, and in just a few weeks, he'll receive his first college degree. "The first time around at OCC, I wasn't quite ready for college. I left after one semester." The LaFayette High School graduate needed time to mature, and 5 years in the United States Navy where he learned neurodiagnostics, helped give him a clear vision for the future.
