Each year Onondaga Community College recognizes distinguished graduates who have made a difference in their community and professional life, naming them "Alumni Faces" honorees. On the night of Thursday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Frederick Marvin and Ernst Schuh Recital Hall in the Academic II building, we will pay tribute to the Alumni Faces Class of 2022. In the weeks leading up to the event we are proudly profiling our honorees on our website and social media.
Members of Onondaga Community College's Student Government gathered for their first meeting of the new academic year with President Dr. Warren Hilton. The "getting to know you" meeting included conversations about where everyone is from, what they are studying, and what they like to do in their spare time. "I really liked him. He feels so down to earth and approachable," said Student Government President Chris Cedano Alcala. "Meeting someone in a position of leadership is really motivating."

September is National Recovery Month. The goal of the national observance is to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with a disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life.
More than 100,000 Americans die annually from drug overdoses and Rob Kent '82 has dedicated his professional life to doing something about it. Kent is a Syracuse native and a 1982 graduate of Onondaga Community College who is serving as the General Counsel at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.
One year ago at this time, Thuw J-Elmi was just beginning her journey at Onondaga Community College. She had come here from the Chicago area, spent the previous year taking classes at home because of Covid, and didn't know anyone on campus.
Onondaga Community College's campus community paused Sunday afternoon to remember the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attack on the 21st anniversary of one of the darkest days in our nation's history. A remembrance ceremony was held at the College's 9/11 site outside the Whitney Applied Technology Center.

Nick Todisco was a beloved and demanding Art professor who was well-known throughout Central New York. He taught at Onondaga Community College for nearly 30 years. He also taught in the Westhill and LaFayette School Districts, along with his alma mater, Syracuse's Vocational High School.
Three years ago when alumnus Ryan Beckley '98 returned to Onondaga Community College as Chair of Automotive Technology, the program’s enrollment was, in car terms, a clunker. There were about a dozen students in the entire program, and by the end of the academic year only three would earn their associate degrees.
