Handgun Safety Course – Possess on Premises

Basic Handgun Safety and Carry Concealed Course certificates are valid for THREE years from the date of issuance and must still be valid at the time of application in order to be accepted. Any application submitted after three years from the date of issuance will not be accepted and you will be required to retake the course for which the certificate was originally issued.

DO NOT BRING ANY FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION TO THIS COURSE. ALL COURSE MATERIALS TO INCLUDE FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION ARE PROVIDED.  

4-hour Course will be acceptable only for "Possess on Premise" in Onondaga, Oswego, and Madison Counties.

OCC's Handgun Safety Course is taught by NYS DCJS-certified firearms instructors and fulfills requirements for obtaining a pistol permit in Onondaga, Cayuga, and Madison counties. It's a one-day commitment, that lasts approximately four hours.  The course costs $50 to attend, and is offered at OCC's main campus.
