Course Description

Security Guard 8 Hour Initial

This is an eight-hour course required by New York State as the first step in obtaining a security guard registration card. The course gives a general overview of the duties and responsibilities of a security guard, including legal powers and limitations, how to handle emergency situations, access control, and ethics and conduct. The cost to enroll is $75.00 and all students must attend all eight hours of training and pass an exam to complete the course successfully.

Security Guard 8 Hour Annual

This class meets the annual requirements for New York State recertification as a Security Guard. As per New York State Department of State's requirements "This course must be completed each calendar year you hold a security guard registration. Your registration is issued for two years; therefore, you must complete two 8 Hour Annual In-Service training courses within your registration effective and expiration dates to be eligible for renewal." This course is taught by New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) certified instructors with years of real-world practical experience. The cost to enroll is $75.00 and all students must attend all eight hours of training.

Security Guard 16 hour On the Job Training

This class meets all the requirements to start working after completing your Security Guard 8 Hour Initial course. This class is required by New York State as part of the training requirements set out by New York State Department of State as " A course relevant to the duties of guards, requirements of the work site, and the needs of the employer. You must complete this training within 90 days of employment as a security guard." This course is taught over the course of 2 days in 8-hour blocks. The cost to enroll is $150.00 and all students must attend all 16 hours of training.

• You are registered upon our receipt of your application; we do not send registration confirmation.
• You must be pre-registered for a class, we do not accept walk-ins.
• No certificates will be issued if payment has not been received prior to class date. Instructor will NOT accept payment
• To avoid financial responsibility, you must drop the class prior to the start of class. Failure to attend class does not negate financial responsibility.
• Security Guard Course Refund Policy: Students will receive 100% refund if course is dropped prior to start.
