Nicholas Pangaro completed his second science-based research internship this summer, and he has an enthusiastic message for any student considering doing an internship of their own. "If you're thinking about it, I say absolutely do it! Before this, I had worked as a lifeguard and in a pizza shop. I was very nervous going into something that was 'professional.' But you can do as well as I did, even if you're only in your first semester! You're going to be okay, and you will be surrounded by people who are there to teach you, not rely on you."

Pangaro is a 2023 graduate of Baldwinsville High School who is majoring in Laboratory Sciences at Onondaga Community College. He completed his first internship at Syracuse University during last winter's semester break. His most recent internship experience took place in summer 2025, titled A Closer Look at Bacteria Through Flow Cytometry. "It was fantastic. I loved it," Pangaro said. "This was very hands-on, lab work. I would do it again if I'm offered the chance."

Pangaro was one of a handful of students who shared their summer research and internship experiences during a symposium in the Storer Auditorium Lobby. Are you interested in doing science research over the upcoming winter break? An information session will be held Monday, October 27 at 12:15pm in room F282 on the second floor of Ferrante Hall. Students can also contact their Navigator for more information.
