Audit A Course

Students, employees, and community members can audit a course at OCC for personal enrichment. Audited courses do not earn credit or a letter grade and are available on a space-available basis.

What to Know Before You Audit

  • Instructor expectations: Auditors may not be required to complete assignments or exams, but participation expectations may vary. Check with your instructor before the course begins.
  • Requisites still apply: You must meet all course prerequisites and co-requisites.
  • Transcript notation: A grade of “AU” (Audit) will appear on your transcript. This does not earn credit and does not affect your GPA.
  • Restrictions:
    • You may audit each course only once.
    • You cannot switch from audit to credit after choosing audit status.
  • Cost: Tuition and fees apply to audited courses unless you are age 60 or older.
