Alum Rising Rapidly in the News and Information Industry
Professionally speaking, Onondaga Community College Alumnus Lane Russell '20 is climbing the ladder of success quickly. Just three months ago he was named the Executive Producer of CNY Central, the local television news hub on James Street in Syracuse which includes stations WSTM 3, WTVH, 5, and CW6. As Executive Producer, he oversees the content of newscasts on all three stations. "Lane is one of the youngest journalists ever promoted to a news leadership position, but he is as worthy as anyone I've ever considered," said CNY Central News Director Sean Carroll.
OCC Students Excelling at Micron
RJ Tinsley is one month into his summer-long paid internship at Micron, and the experience is even better than he could have imagined. "I've loved every second here so far. Not only has Micron been great to me, the city, geography, climate, and population of young professionals here have been amazing."
Honors College Providing Opportunities to High Achieving Students
When Carter Stewart was considering his college options, he knew he wanted to get a good education and continue playing baseball. Those priorities brought him to Onondaga Community College. "OCC is close to home and a good, affordable option. It's a perfect way to start my college career so I can transfer to a four-year right after."

Updated signs of Onondaga Community College Student-Athletes success can be seen on campus.
Last month the Lazers Women's Lacrosse team defeated Monroe Community College 19-4 to cap off a perfect 12-0 season. It was the third NJCAA National Championship in program history, and the 17th team title for the Lazers!
In recognition of their accomplishment, a new "17" was hung in the Hall of Champions. A new national championship banner was also hung in the SRC Arena, and outside at Wilbur Field. You can see photos of those below.
Teaming Up for Healthcare Workforce Solutions
The COVID-19 pandemic caused major disruptions to New York State's health care delivery system and its workforce. The critical need for workers led to the creation of the HealthCARES Consortium. With the support of a United States Department of Labor Strengthening Community Colleges Grant, Onondaga Community College (OCC) became the leader of a team of 11 community colleges, collaborating on a statewide goal of increasing the healthcare workforce by 20% in 5 years.
