Frontline Caregiving

Medical Assistants play an essential role in medical offices assisting physicians and other health professionals with patient care and office management. They are the first person patients see when they walk in the door and responsible for creating a positive experience for patients.

The program includes:

  • Office Skills (Updating medical records, filling out insurances forms, etc.)
  • Medical terminology
  • Specimen Collection 
  • Electrocardiogram Training
  • Phlebotomy
  • CPR certification
  • Laboratory Testing

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Attendance of One Orientation Session
  • Medical Insurance
  • Compliance with Immunization Requirements
  • Completing Health Compliance Requirements 

 

Information Sessions

Information sessions for the Spring cohort will be held on the following dates:

  • October 7 at 3:00 PM
  • October 21 at 3:00 PM
  • November 4 at 3:00 PM
  • November 18 at 3:00 PM
  • December 2 at 3:00 PM
  • December 16 at 3:00 PM

Location: Ferrante, Room 282

Attendance at one information session is required for students interested in participating in the program. Students must attend a session before they can enroll in the program.

 

Schedule

26 weeks

  • Coursework: Hybrid with online learning as well as in person class meetings.
    • In person meetings will take place Monday-Friday, 9am-12pm.
  • Practicum: Days/times determined in conjunction with practicum site.

 

Cost

$6,585 with financial aid available for qualifying students

Where You'll Go

Upon completion of program students will be eligible to sit for the National Health Career Association - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant National exam at OCC.
