Student Spotlight: Tiffany Williams

Onondaga Community College provided Tiffany Williams the support system she needed to be a successful college student. "It's been such a different experience here. People have listened to me and helped me. It's really been great."

Williams spent five years in the Army National Guard before deciding to pursue a college education. She started at another community college, but a health episode left her with memory issues. Without the proper support services around her she walked away from college.

One And Done: Emmalee French

It seems hard for Emmalee French to believe that just five years ago she was in the 8th grade, learning about the amazing opportunities the P-TECH program presented. Today she's in her final semester at Onondaga Community College, completing work toward her Electrical Technology degree. By summer she'll have a full-time job as an Electrical Technician at Novelis, an aluminum mill in Oswego. "I think it's insane! It blows me away when I think about it. This whole thing has been so amazing."

OCC Students Standing Guard At The Capitol

Cameron and Colin Pare were preparing for the spring semester at Onondaga Community College when the infamous events of January 6 happened. As the United States Capitol was being stormed the Pare's knew their lives were about to change. "I was watching the news and I was about 80% sure we were going to get called up. The next day we found out we were being activated," said Colin.

Student Spotlight: Chance Davis

It's only 6-and-a-half miles from Nottingham High School to Onondaga Community College, but Chance Davis had to leave home before discovering the place where he belonged was in his backyard. After receiving his diploma from Nottingham in June of 2019, Davis departed Syracuse for another community college. After one semester away he decided to come home and give OCC a try. "I realized I was a city person and liked diversity. I had never been to the OCC campus. Once I came here, everything felt amazing. I knew I would like it and I do!"

Industry Leader In Health Information Technology

Carolyn Hastings took a chance on finding her passion at Onondaga Community College and that chance paid off. Today she is the Assistant Vice President for Health Information Management and Coding at Albany Medical Center, and is President-elect of the New York Health Information Management Association. "I've come a long way and have had the ability to work in several reputable health care facilities throughout the U.S. in upper-level management positions. I am blessed to have OCC as my beginning!"
