In OCC’s Home Health Aide (HHA) Program, you’ll gain the skills and confidence to provide safe, compassionate care for people who want to live independently at home. You’ll learn how to assist with daily needs, promote dignity, and support health and wellness for clients of all ages.

By the end of this 4-week program, you’ll be prepared to take the New York State HHA Certification Exam and step directly into a meaningful career in home care.

Requirements

To be an eligible candidate, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Meet immunization and health compliance requirements
  • Be able to read, write, understand, and speak English
  • Demonstrate the mental and emotional stability needed to work with patients, families, and healthcare teams

Where You'll Go

With your New York State HHA Certificate, you’ll be qualified to work with:

  • Home health agencies
  • Hospice and in-home care services
  • Assisted living programs

Many students continue their education at OCC, using HHA as the first step in a pathway toward becoming a CNA, LPN, or RN.
