Sports have returned to the Onondaga Community College campus! After Covid claimed four sports seasons, Lazers Athletics teams are practicing and competing with other colleges again. Student Athletes on the soccer, cross country, and volleyball teams are all gearing up for what they hope will be outstanding seasons.
Holly Adams seems to have everything figured out. She's found the perfect degree program and is working toward her dream career, is Student Government president, and gets to bring her nearly 2-year-old son to campus with her every day where he is cared for at the Children's Learning Center.
Six faculty and staff members were named winners of the 2021 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence. The system-level honors provide recognition for consistently superior professional achievement and encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence. The 2021 honorees are:
Jesse Wilson, ‘12 works hard, is proud of his Onondaga Community College degree and his incredibly successful business, and is comfortable bragging about it. That’s why at age 25 he bought himself a sleek 2001 Ferrari and put custom "OCC GRAD" license plates on it. “I’m a big proponent of the school, the program, and community colleges in general. They are such a better idea. So many people go to more expensive schools and have so much student debt it takes them longer to start their own business.”
Ten years ago Eva DeCharleroy became the first member of her family to go to college. A decade later she's on the brink of becoming an attorney. Her journey through higher education began at Onondaga Community College after she graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 2011. "My parents and I determined OCC was the best place for me to start given its location and affordability. It would give me the necessary space to see if college was for me."
