Susan Fahrenkrug, '93 has overcome dyslexia to become one of Central New York's top information technology entrepreneurs. She credits OCC with providing her the support and mentorship she needed to overcome her challenges and empower her to pursue education.
Student Spotlight: Nidaa Aljabbarin

Nidaa Aljabarrin's career aspirations are motivated by family tragedy. While growing up in Syria one of her brothers died from asthma. "Because of the war we couldn't take him to the hospital. He had a genetic disease which we couldn't treat. I want to help families going through things like this and find cures for them."
Bachelor's Degree Program Comes to OCC Campus
Onondaga Community College President Dr. Casey Crabill, Interim Provost and Senior Vice President Anastasia L. Urtz, J.D., Keuka College President Amy Storey, and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Bradley Fuster, D.M.A. today signed a Dual Admission and General Transfer Agreement which creates a new pathway for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Social Work.
"something" in The Gallery
A two-artist show titled "something" is currently on display in The Gallery at the Ann Felton Center. It features the sculptures of Paul Mauren and the paintings of Scott Brodie. Both are long-time instructors from the Albany area whose work provides a refreshing challenge to concepts of abstraction and representation. Their artists' statements are about as different as two statements could possibly be.
Perfect Score for Tattoo Artist
Charles Spataro spent the last decade working as a tattoo artist when he decided to give college another try. "For about a year I looked at all of the different degrees. I would YouTube them, see what people did, and find what interested me. That's how I landed here."
Alumni Profile: Meaghan Geary, '17
Meaghan Geary's road to a successful college education began with a conversation with a co-worker at a pizza shop she was managing. "She had just graduated high school and told me she was going to OCC. I didn't know anything about OCC so I started looking into it. But it wasn't until the owner made me so angry one day I decided to quit, go back to school, and do something with my life."
