"All Of My Success is Because I Was At OCC"

Wurood Shaher '16 owns her own business, teaches students at the high school and college levels, and is pursuing her doctoral degree. She's come a long way, both figuratively and literally, since she immigrated to the United States with her husband and son. She credits her time at Onondaga Community College with putting her on the road to a productive life and career. "All of my success is because I was at OCC. I am sure if I started at another place I would not be where I am. I've been at other places where I did not find the same level of love and support as I did at OCC."

See the "South Side Photo Walk" in the Gallery

Twelve years ago the South Side Newspaper Project began an effort to visually document life on Syracuse's South Side. Photographers of all skill levels continuously took pictures, showing what life was like there.

The product of their work is Onondaga Community College's first gallery show of the semester. It's titled "South Side Photo Walk."

The gallery is open Monday's through Thursday's from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Men's Basketball Team Getting Better At The Right Time

With a new head coach and an almost entirely new roster, it's been a season of transition for the Onondaga Community College Men's Basketball team. "I feel like we're on the right track, even though our record might now indicate it right now," said Head Coach Joe Hulbert. "I'm incredibly optimistic. The guys seem to be too. We know we can do it and we've got the time to do it."

"I Have A Great Job And I Don't Take It For Granted"

"We had a great season. It felt good to be back to normal after what we went through with Covid."
