When Nick Sprague was a student at Fayetteville-Manlius High School, he participated in the Science Olympiad, the nation's premier STEM competition which provides standard-based challenges to thousands of teams in all 50 states. "I always liked science and the Science Olympiad helped me find my interest in engineering. I decided I wanted to study applied science and make things."
Maximus Wunderlich started hearing about Spartan Academy when he was in the 8th or 9th grade. It was an opportunity he couldn't say "no" to. "Graduating high school and earning my college degree at the same time sounded like a good idea."

Danielle Lambert is a 38-year-old mother of three who is highly energetic and a passionate advocate.

Prospective students interested in earning a Broadcast Media Communications degree at Onondaga Community College had the opportunity to come to campus March 10 and test drive the program.
"I've been looking at a whole bunch of different schools and didn't realize everything that was here. I think it was really cool to see this program," said Danica Zulol of Fayetteville-Manlius High School. "I was planning on attending OCC but now I want to do it even more because of what I saw here today," added Jaden Raymond of East Syracuse Minoa High School.
Five years ago Maksymilian Suchomski was riding the school bus home when he pulled a complex piece of technology, known as a wifi router motherboard, out of his backpack and began working on it. "I was taking it apart for fun. One of my friends saw me and said 'if you have that in your bag you would like the P-TECH program.' He told me about it, I researched it and applied, and I got in."
The Gordon Student Center erupted with cheers shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8 when Onondaga Community College's Women's Basketball team learned they had been selected to participate in the National Junior College Athletic Association championship tournament for the second year in a row. A communications-related job at a Boston-area hospital provided Julie Kane '11 with a first-hand look at how health care professionals serve those in need. The experience changed the focus of her professional life. "I saw an array of experts collaborating on individualized patient care and knew that was where I belonged. I decided then and there to become a registered nurse."
