Ten years ago the dream of life in America motivated Romeo Kpolo to leave his home in Africa and come to the United States. Today he has an office on the 4th floor of Syracuse City Hall where he works as a Civil Engineer. "Syracuse gave me so much. I want to give back. Working there makes me happy. Friends tell me I could do jobs outside and make more money. I tell them 'I know but I want to work for the city and give back.'"
Isaiah Bedoar has transformed himself from an average student at West Genesee High School to a high achieving one at Onondaga Community College. Earlier this semester he was inducted into the college's chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. "I do a lot better in environments where I can get thoughts out there and work with people. I blossom where I have the freedom to learn and the freedom to apply what I've learned. I've completely skyrocketed here."

There's never been a better time to consider a career in Surgical Technology!
Onondaga Community College's associate degree program usually only accepts new students in the fall semester. But because of the critical need for Surgical Technologists, new students will be accepted for the spring 2023 semester which begins in January! Surgical Technologists are the people who make sure operating rooms run smoothly. They set up the room, arrange necessary equipment, and assist physicians during surgery.
Farah, Mohamad, and Yasmine Chatila are used to doing things together. They are 19-year-old triplets who share life events like birthdays and graduation ceremonies. On the night of October 25 they celebrated another milestone together when they were sworn into Onondaga Community College's chapter of international honor society Phi Theta Kappa. "I felt so proud," said Yasmine Chatila. "When we first came here everything was so new and it took us time to adjust. Seeing how we were able to not only adjust, but to excel... when we look back at where we were one year ago we are so proud."
