Where’s My Refund?

Waiting for a financial aid refund? We can help you understand where your refund is in the process and what you can expect.

First: Is Your Financial Aid Ready?

Before a refund can be issued, your financial aid must be processed and applied to your student account.

Check your MyOCC account to make sure:

• You have completed all required financial aid requirements.
• Your financial aid has been awarded.
• You are enrolled in the required number of credits.
• You do not have outstanding financial aid documents or holds.
• Your aid has been applied to your account.

Check MyOCC → Financial Aid to review your financial aid status and requirements.

Do I Have a Refund?

A refund is issued when your financial aid is greater than your eligible charges for the semester.

For example:

Your actual refund amount may be different depending on your enrollment, charges, and financial aid eligibility.

Important: Your financial aid offer is not necessarily the amount you will receive as a refund. Your aid is first used to pay eligible charges on your student account.

When Will I Get My Refund?

Financial aid refunds are not issued immediately when you receive your financial aid award.

There are several steps:

1. Complete your financial aid requirements
2. Financial aid is processed
3. Aid is applied to your student account
4. Your student bill is officially paid
5. Any remaining funds are refunded to you

Processing time can vary depending on your financial aid type, enrollment, eligibility, and whether you have completed all required steps.

How Will I Receive My Refund?

OCC issues student refunds mainly through Direct Deposit.

Make sure your direct deposit information is set up through MyOCC and current so your refund can be delivered as quickly as possible. If you do not have Direct Deposit, refunds will be mailed to your home address. Checks cannot be picked up in person.

Still Waiting?

If you expected a refund but don't see one, check your MyOCC account first.

Your refund may be delayed if:

• You have outstanding financial aid requirements.
• Your FAFSA or financial aid information is still being processed.
• You recently changed your enrollment.
• You have a financial aid hold.
• Your aid has not yet disbursed.
• Your financial aid amount changed.
• You have outstanding charges on your student account.
• You are waiting for a specific type of aid to process.

Remember:

Financial aid awarded ≠ refund issued.

Your financial aid must first be processed and applied to your eligible college charges. If there are funds remaining after your charges are covered, those funds may be refunded to you.

Check your MyOCC account regularly for the most up-to-date information about your financial aid and student account.
