At Onondaga Community College, you have flexible options for programs to shape your education. Choose from associate degrees, certificates, microcredentials, and non-credit workforce training programs.

Adjust Your Degree or Certificate Program

Current Students

If you’re currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program, you can:

  • Change your program
  • Add a second program
  • End your program
  • Update your catalog year

To make any of these changes, submit an Academic Program Adjustment Form.

Returning Students

You are considered a returning student if you previously attended OCC and are coming back after a break of one or more semesters. This includes:

  • Students returning from academic dismissal
  • Students pursuing an additional degree after graduating
  • Students returning from a leave of absence or any break in attendance

Important Notes

  • Deadlines matter: Program adjustment requests are processed for a specific semester. To make a change for the current semester, submit your request within the first 6 business days. Check the Academic Calendar for exact dates.
  • Some programs have additional requirements: Review the details in the College Catalog if you’re interested in:
    • Health Programs (including Health Sciences, Nursing, Paramedic, PTA, and Surgical Technology)
    • Engineering Science
    • Music and Sound Recording
  • Plan ahead: Changing your program may affect your graduation timeline. Meet with your Navigator to understand how your credits will apply.
  • There may be financial aid implications: If you receive financial aid or scholarships, check in with the Financial Aid Service Center before making changes.

Microcredentials

Microcredentials are short, focused programs that help you build in-demand skills. Why consider a microcredential?

  • Fast & Focused – Typically 9-12 credits
  • Stackable – Can count toward a degree or certificate program and be earned at the same time

Important: If you are enrolled only in a microcredential (and not a degree or certificate program), you are not considered a matriculated student and may not qualify for financial aid. Non-Credit Workforce Programs

Workforce programs provide fast, hands-on training for in-demand careers. These programs:

  • Are usually shorter than degree or certificate programs
  • Do not carry college credit
  • Run in cohorts with flexible start times throughout the year

Even though they are non-credit, you may be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) if you later enroll in a degree or certificate program. Learn more:
